About Me
As you can tell from the title of my blog..I am a "soon to be" empty nester. I am having a hard time with this reality. I have been a mom since I was 18 years old so it is all I know! Now my children are 20 and 18! My youngest son is in his last year of high school and already has plans of going to college in North Carolina next Fall. While I am proud of him, I am sad and scared as to what will happen when he goes. My 20 year old is out most nights until after we go to bed and always seems to be running somewhere..I hardly get to see him so it is like he has already moved out. Who ever said that we are supposed to raise our kids and then let them go was CRAZY!
Lets start with more of a background story of my life. My husband and I started "dating" when I was 13..yes...13. We dated all through high school and now have been together for 26 years and married for 19! At this point, I'm afraid we are all talked out! When the kids leave the nest, what will become of us?! I am sure that we are not the only couple that goes through this. We can go out to dinner and never speak a word to each other from the time we leave the house, order food, eat, and drive home! Oh and we won't be completely an empty nest because we have a 4 month Old English Sheepdog, a 2 year old deaf albino Great Dane, a 14 year old Chinese Shar-pei and a 7 year old cat! And believe me, I DO occasionally talk to them...again, I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this.
I have at least 10 months before my youngest goes off to college. So during this time, I am going to start exploring "hobbies". My husband is a volunteer fire fighter, he also hunts, golfs, fishes, plays paint ball....and so he now has informed me that I need to find a hobby. I feel it is much easier for men to find hobbies. I am hoping that in this next 10 months I can figure out who I am? I am determined to find out that I am not JUST a mom and wife. There has to be SOMETHING out there that I will find interesting, maybe relaxing, or just find out that is ME!
I am going to start next week by exploring a new Yoga studio near by. I will let you all know how it goes!
